Professional
Employee Characteristics
Top companies do not
hire people based on their knowledge of the respective industry, that knowledge
can be taught. First, hire people who are detail oriented. These people are
precise and avoid mistakes. Second, a strong work ethic, find the people who
are willing to stay late to get things done. Last, confidence, hire people who aren't afraid when faced with a challenge will produce results.
Being precise and
detail oriented are very important skills to look for in people. According to Forbes Magazine, “Attention to detail is
crucial or mistakes will be made within your company. Detail-oriented employees take pride in their
work.” (Sundheim, 2013).
You need to find those
people who are going to get things done, never hire employees with a 9-5 work
ethic mentality. “I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and doggone it, people
like me. As it turns out, those three things are precisely what you need to
communicate in a job interview, along with one more: I get things done.” (Schulz,
2012).
Confident people aren't afraid to face challenges head on, “Confidence produces results and encourages employees to take on challenges that others shy away from.” (Sundheim, 2013).
These
are the best people to have on your team because they can always be counted on
to deliver.
In order for your
company to be successful, you need to hire people who possess a combination of
the above skills. Those are the people who will do marvelous things for your
company by avoiding mistakes, getting things done, and not letting challenges
deter them.
